MEET OUR PASTOR
Reverend Dr. Reggie Garrett, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mattie Garrett and Deacon Gabriel Sellers, embraced his faith early at Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gray Court, South Carolina.
Educated in Laurens County, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Furman University, where he received foundational ministerial training under Dr. Jim Pitts through the Church-Related Vocations Scholarship and directed music for chapel services. He later completed internships at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville under Dr. Toney Parks, serving as Church Administrator, Trustee, and in music and men’s ministries. At Mount Sinai, he met and married Evangelist Janine Bennett-Garrett in 2000.
Dr. Garrett holds a Master’s in Music from Converse University, studied at Beulah Heights Bible College, and earned a Master of Ministry in Christian Counseling and a Doctorate in Biblical Exposition from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He is also a certified faith-based counselor. Answering the call to preach in 2005, he is licensed and ordained through non-denominational fellowships and the Tumbling Shoals Baptist Association.
Dedicated to service, he volunteers with Home with the Heart, Covenant Women’s Ministries, and the Society of St. Andrew. His leadership roles include serving the Greer Soup Kitchen, STEP, the NAACP, and presiding over Furman’s Black Alumni Council. A member of several ministerial alliances, he is the 1st Vice Moderator of the Enoree River Baptist Association and Tri-President of the G.O.A.L. Justice Ministry Executive Council.
In 2015, Dr. Garrett was unanimously elected Pastor of the Historic Jubilee Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina, the Upstate’s oldest African American church. Under his visionary leadership, the congregation continues to experience spiritual growth, celebrate Christian liberty, and impact lives across generations.
